Recycled

We offer most of our standard products moulded in recycled materials. On request we can make almost any of our products from recycled material at no extra cost.

Environmental Policy:

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle is an ethos very close to Characteristix’ heart. Within the Characteristix factory we practice the highest possible levels of recycling and efficient use of resources. 100% of our waste materials are recycled, if not through our own process then by contracted recycling firms. On a smaller scale, we recycle our office waste.

Our Practices:

All of our plastic products are made from at least 25% recycled material. During our process there is an amount of routine waste that occurs. Rather than disposing of this waste we have devised a system that automatically reprocesses the scrap material directly back into the manufacturing process. This amounts to approximately 20 tonnes or raw plastic saved per annum.

We also use a paper carrier for our printing process. This paper is collected and recycled into Grade 2 paper. At our current rate we recycle enough paper to save approximately 50 trees per year.

Unfortunately, our injection moulding process does use a good deal of electricity. We ensure that this usage is kept to a minimum by ensuring that not only we employ the most modern and efficient computer controlled equipment available but also that it is maintained in such a way that keeps its efficiency.

As mentioned in our policy we recycle all of our office/household waste and we have a very strong “switch it off” policy for all our electrical items including computers, printers and lighting.
